These earthy beauties are sculpted to mimic the branching patterns of fungal mycelium.
We use a few different types of wax to construct the mycelium threads into a band around the moissanite stone. By using cast in place stones, we can play with the ideas of bezels and prongs, even sometimes laying silver threads directly on top of the stone.
When we started making these rings they looked similar to the ones in the cover photo; a circle stone with a 5 - 8mm mycelim band. Now the variations are such that we can not easily represent them in a website listing. If you are in the DMV area, visiting us at the Downtown DC Holiday Market is probably the best way to find one that suits you. If you are not in this area, you can request photos of the ones we may have in your size range on this form: MYCELIUM & MOISSANITE PHOTO REQUEST FORM

What is a Moissanite?
Moissanite is a naturally occurring mineral composed of silicon carbide, first discovered in 1893 by French chemist Henri Moissan among the fragments of a meteorite in Arizona. Natural moissanite is rare, so the gemstones used in jewelry are almost exclusively lab grown. Classified as a diamond simulant, moissanite is a distinct gemstone that offers a similar visual character through an entirely different mineral composition.
