THOUSAND YEAR ROSE: Believed to be the oldest rose bush in the world, a cultivar called the “Wild Dog Rose” has been climbing up the apse of the Hildesheim Cathedral in Germany for at least 700 years. Currently at about 70 feet high, the bush was destroyed by Allied bombing during WWII, but the roots survived and it re-blossomed among the rubble after the war.
